New Year - New Changes

Did you know that many banks are now charging extra to send out "paper" Statements?

If they are not now, they probably will be soon.  Check with your bank and sign up for Electronic Statements.  They are one less thing you have to worry about and can be saved on your computer or USB Flash Drive to access whenever you need.  Plus it saves paper!

Gift Giving All Year Round

Give gifts you don't have to wrap or ship, such as Club Memberships, Concert tickets, Virtual Gift Cards, iTunes music or movies, even charitable contributions.
Christmas Tips

If you own an artificial tree, keep it and use it, or give it away - don't throw it away!

Real versus Artificial:

Real:
  • Possibility of pesticides being brought indoors, unless you find one organically grown
  • Easy to compost or turn into mulch
  • Can activate allergy problems
  • Cost of fuel to transport the tree
  • Lives a few weeks if cared for properly
Artificial:
  • Seemingly endless life expectancy
  • Will probably never decompose
  • If made of PVC, there is a possible threat of lead from dropped needles
  • Most are fire retardant
Now it's up to you to decide - if you don't already have one!

Unicef Cards from Hallmark
Give your old Christmas Cards to St. Jude's Ranch for Children, an organization for abused, abandoned, and neglected children.  The children earn money by removing the fronts of donated cards to make new ones sold in packets of 10.  This year's cards will be accepted through February 28, 2010.  Go to www.stjudesranch.org for donation and purchasing details.

Another great organization is Unicef.  They work in more than 150 countries and territories around the world to reach as many children as possible, providing effective low-cost solutions for vacinations, nutrition, education and safe drinking water.  Christmas cards can be purchased at www.unicefusa.org or click on the picture to go directly to their site.
